Boost your reading performance with Spreeder iPad, Desktop, iPhone
I have been using Spreeder quite effectively for some time and now decided to upgrade to the recently released Pro version. Spreeder CX Pro is a RSVP eReader app to speed read digital content combined with guided training to learn to process information more efficiently.
It aims to eliminate sub-vocalization and regression habits and also improve fixation expansion and concentration, so keep reading our Spreeder review to see if the combo of an RSVP reader and training course will suit your needs.
Spreeder Pro Edition – Overview
Spreeder CX (visit website) might be ideal for those who want to focus on reading entire eBooks, digital web content or text documents and combine it with training to eliminate bad reading habits or expand their eye vision. The Pro edition includes guided training lessons, warm-up courses as well as a library of 20,000 eBooks plus an upload function for web and text content.
What is actually RSVP (Rapid serial visual presentation)? RSVP allows users to read digital content that will be usually presented or highlighted in a text box area. In CX you can set the number of words, the number of lines and the reading speed itself. Based on settings, content can flash up at the same spot to reduce eye movement, be highlighted or automatically scroll down to simulate a natural reading flow.
Spreeder Pro focuses on:
- Reading entire books and texts
- Improving fixation by controlling eye movement
- Reducing sub-vocalization
- Reducing regression
- Smooth user experience
- Productivity and time management
- Learning and reading on all devices.
- iPad/iPhone app included with each desktop license.
Spreeder CX – Pro Features
RSVP technology isn’t really new and the one used in Spreeder 2017 is just the latest of its kind. So, how can you efficiently process information at 530 wpm and a chunk setting of 1-6 words? The guided training modules provide useful information on the following topics:
- What are speed reading techniques?
- How to reduce sub-vocalization or avoid saying the words while reading?
- How to avoid skipping back in text or reduce regression?
- How to expand eye fixation in order to read and understand whole word groups?
- How to combine it all to improve comprehension?
Below are also some of the main features in more detail:
Select exercises that will teach you to reduce above mentioned bad reading habits. You will learn to handle larger word chunks in this section. The mixed training guide is a tool to practice all skills in combination.
Choose from 4 different reading modes: Serial, Flow, Highlight and Scroll. This is very handy when you want to manually control your reading or prefer the normal book experience and therefore enjoy highlighted text passages. You can also simply read as you would read on an eBook reader without the fancy stuff. Nice feature set.
Users are given a space in cloud where they can add own content or use any of the 20,000 free eBooks already available.
Sync all your data, libraries and progress sheets on Mac and Windows computers, the web platform and on your iPad/iPhone too. This way you can access the tool at work, home or on the go. You will also get automatic firmware updates for 3 years.
Spreeder (visit website) is flexible when it comes to choose your reading style. It can handle chunk sizes of a single word, all the way up to 30 words on 5 lines. You can choose a reading speed ranging from 50 to 2,000 words per minute. A nice setting is the option to slow down complex chunks and speed up smaller ones.
Set your preferences like what quality of video you prefer (high or low), appearance and design, font size, punctuation pauses, pace sounds, background color or speed variability. There are also keyboard shortcuts available to make job easier for you.
Share your success status with your friends on Facebook or Google+. You can do a group reading and feel motivated when you achieve our goal. You can use the software with your existing social media accounts.
Multiple User Accounts
With one license you can set up to 5 different user accounts. Also, each user will have its own profile in the cloud library and can run the software on multiple personal computers. Spreeder CX is therefore ideal for the whole family or a group of friends.
Track your progress and get detailed report about reading time, speed and a graphical presentation of how you are doing as compared to your past reports.
- Smart goals
- Success-point system to evaluate progress
- Learn in groups or with friends

The Spreeder iPad app (visit website) has just been released and is the latest achievement in the eReflect’s strategy to offer e-Learning solutions that sync on all platforms with one single license. Yes, it’s included! No extra charge.
- Same features as desktop
- Access to all training courses
- Sync data between iPad and desktop
- Speed read articles and eBooks
- Upload documents on desktop and sync to tablet
- Tracking progress, social features
Spreeder Pro iPhone
Many users have mentioned they would actually use Spreeder on their smartphone, which is why CX Pro is now also available as an iPhone app.
The features and courses are the same across all platforms and any data created or actions taken will be synchronized automatically on all devices and installations. The iPhone app will ship for free with any new or existing CX license.
A useful feature is that you can continue reading with Spreeder even without an active internet connection. However, choosing a different eBook or using other cloud features will require users to be online. iPhone users can also speed read webpages, whereas the app will recognize URLs and convert its content into an easy to digest text format.
Download, Installation, First Steps
Installing Spreeder (visit website) is smooth. After purchasing the software you will get all details in an email, amongst them your download link and registration code.
Login with Facebook or Google+ or set up a new account using an email address. The password shouldn’t be longer than 15 characters if you set up from scratch.
Set a reading goal by running a test or go with the default option of 600 words per minute. You can adjust goals at any time later.
You will then land on the dashboard with key information about current and target speed, success status and next steps to do. This is your quick access point to browse the library, spreed webpages or complete video courses.
I recommend to watch all the video courses in order to extract the experts key tips and strategies. Remember, you may increase speed quickly, but you will also need to train comprehension and retention, thus your memory skills.
Good to know
You may experience a few hickups here and there. There is a feedback section you can use to report errors or to share your opinion about the user experience in general.
Spreeder CX is well organized, though it took me some time to learn which button hosts which function. Spend some time to get familiar with the interface and how to quickly adjust reading speed, number of lines, reading mode, going back to dashboard etc.
Loading stats or other data that sits in the cloud might take some time. Clicking the stats button again often resolves the issue. The very first login might take its time too.
The iPad app doesn’t support keyboard shortcuts, which isn’t a downside but rather a technical limitation due to tablets not having physical keyboard. Having said that, external keyboards attached to the iPad won’t change that for now. However, one license serves them all, so you can always switch to the desktop or browser app.
One thing I would like to see improved is moving the “Add Button (+)” for inserting a URL, Paste Text or Document to the top of the screen. It is currently located at the bottom right corner and it took me some time to find that feature at the beginning ;).
A downside is the lack of a customized Spreed Bookmarklet as known from the free version. You can already enter any URL quite easily, but I could imagine the process being simplified. A One Click action to copy a URL and start spreeding content would further improve the overall good user experience.
Launching a mobile app for tablets and smartphones will make CX also a competitive online speed reading course, particularly because there are so many other RSVP readers out there. Speaking of pricing, $37 is reasonably priced as you will always enjoy the latest RSVP technology, a huge free eBook library and have access to guided training courses. Similar software may set you back a lot more.
Spreeder Review: Summary
Spreeder Pro (visit website) is a multi-platform tool and has many advanced features which cannot be found in the basic free version. Below is the brief comparison between the two.
- CX Pro is a downloadable software which can be installed on multiple computers (it supports up to 5 users) and can be used offline whereas the free version can only be used online and without the feature set mentioned above.
- It provides step by step guidance and training by experts which will help you in improving every area to read faster. You basically learn to read fast on digital devices. It’s a Pro RSVP e-reader with embedded training!
- You will have your personal cloud library space where you can add your own contents (PDFs, Web page, documents) which is not available for the free version.
- Pro also keeps track of your progress and rewards you with success points to keep you motivated which is lacking in its free version.
- It is also customizable, flexible and has advanced features.
Spreeder vs. other in-house software
7-Speed-Reading offers one of the most comprehensive set of training tutorials, activities, fun games and in-house video tutorials. It, however, lacks the tool to conveniently speed read entire eBooks, lengthy articles or text documents. With the Spreeder e-reader in turn you can exactly do that which would be the better choice if you are interested in actually reading your stuff as you train. However, the variety of training tools and exercises is lower as compared to 7SR.
Based on my experience, this comprehensive tutor is definitely worth giving a try, particular in combo with the Spreeder iPad/iPhone apps which will be included with each existing or new license. It’s a very attractive deal because each platform is specifically designed for the user’s needs, whereas the iPhone and iPad app feature the same specs as the desktop version. The iPad/iPhone apps are designed for touch screens and supports various gestures or thumb taps for navigation.
